The study looks into whether a happy individual performs better in other areas of applied psychology such as school, sports, forensic, health, developmental, and clinical. Critical review of some electronic databases such as Web of Science, ProQuest Central were extensively searched for to identify scholarly related journals. Positive psychology right the wrong, correct the imbalance by focusing on strengths as well as weaknesses, building the best things in life, revamping the worst. Two sub-categories of happiness are hedonism which mitigates unpleasant feelings and maximizes pleasant feelings while eudaimonism means a pursuit of virtue, excellence, and the best. Communities are comprised of mental & physical health. The well-being of any community requires to be cared for and influenced positively. Positive psychology complements rather than replaces traditional therapy, lessening emotional agony and confusion, developing better ways of coping and reducing unhealthy thoughts. Positive emotion and life satisfaction contribute to better physical health and immune function such as fewer visits to the general practitioners; faster healing; longer life; greater creativity; increased success at work like better decision making and performance; improved earnings etc. greater ability to cope with challenges.

The initial premise of Georg Lukács's The Historical Novel is well-known and can be found outlined in its opening sentence: "The historical novel arose at the beginning of the nineteenth century at about the time of Napoleon's collapse (Scott's Waverley appeared in 1814)" (15). According to Lukács, the classical historical novel inaugurated by Sir Walter Scott was distinguished from what had preceded it by the conscious employment of a historical sense, already implicitly present in the realist fiction of Smollett and Fielding, combined with an understanding that progress is driven by the conflict of social forces.

Most German philosophers in the early nineteenth century were devoted, to the idealistic « completion » of Immanuel Kant's critical philosophy. A few independent philosophers, however, were preoccupied with the elaboration of a non-idealistic, and less speculative, conclusion to Kant's thought. Among the earliest opponents of the speculative idealists was Jakob Friedrich Fries (1773-1843), a philosopher of wide-ranging interests who might have had a much greater impact upon the course of German philosophy had his liberal political affiliations not curtailed his academic career. As it was, his influence was considerable anyway. One aspect of this influence is of particular interest: in his reaction against idealism, and in his own « completion » of Kant, Fries laid the foundation for the development and acceptance of psychology as an independent science.

This 1936 essay, critiquing many aspects of psychology of the early 1900s, is presented in an English translation. Anticipating topics in the sociology of medicine, Gerth refuted neo-Lombrosianism & experimental & behavioristic psychology, reviewed the limited therapeutic potential of Freudian psychotherapy, as well as other psychology-based therapies, & suggested that the behaviorist principle denying self-understanding is invalid. Further, behaviorists who are biased toward objectivity, & observation of the other, & who emulate the natural sciences are misguided. Gestalt psychology was proposed as an alternative. The characterology of Ernst Kretschmer is discussed, in which three bodily types are associated with general character profiles, which was used to trace biological development over time. Friedrich Nietzsche's depth psychology, including his ideas on dreams, is explored. The influences of Nietzsche's construction of the psyche on Freud's developing psychoanalytic theory are traced, showing how psychoanalysis evolved in response to hysteria, then neuroses, & finally psychoses. It is Gerth's contention that Freud failed by reducing all conflict to the libidinal level, devoid of sociohistoric reality. An attempt is made to argue that psychology as a would-be science aiming at general laws stands to gain considerably by suitable studies in developing countries. As the field stands today, it is almost entirely a Euro-American product with the largest volume of research being conducted in US. The objections made that the existing science of HB puts excessive reliance on student S's, & those more widely representative of Ur industrial populations, point to the need to examine wider possible range of man-environment variations in search of universal generalizations. The role of psychology as a facilitator in the solution & identification of a variety of problems in the developing countries is hampered by the difficulties attendant to their rapid social change & psychology's lack of principles which hold across widely divergent cultures. Since the developing countries are interested in the solution to real-life problems, the psychologists should take the initiative in demonstrating the practical implications of their past research, wherever possible, & undertake to identify new spheres of research as well. There is need for a recognized field of specialization within psychology concerned with the problems of developing countries, applied cross-culturally. Research done within such a specialization could then lead to a dialogue with administrators & planners in developing countries with a view to the utilization of such research. 1 Table. E. Loomis.
