This is a letter to Charles W. Mulford of the Schermerhorn Teachers' Agency in New York City from Frank A. Warren applying for the position of Vocational Counsellor in the State Department at Albany. The letter is dated April 25, 1942. There is some handwritten notes on the first page. The letter describes his work and education position, including jobs he worked while at Harvard College. He then talks about his teaching position presently at Springfield College and his view of the important guidance in Industial or vocational work. ; Frank Warren, 1895-1981, was an artist and professor at Springfield College. He taught arts and crafts, history and government at Springfield College in the late '30s and again in the late forties to the fifties.

De Karl Frank à Paul Hagen : itinéraire d'un exilé atypique.
Karl Frank, alias Paul Hagen, est l'une des personnalités les plus intéressantes de l'exil allemand aux États-Unis pendant la Seconde guerre mondiale. Autrichien de naissance, psychologue, militant communiste en Autriche et en Allemagne dans les années vingt, puis socialiste, il fut l'un des principaux animateurs du groupe socialiste clandestin de résistance au nazisme Neu Beginnen. De 1935 à 1939 il effectua, grâce à l'appui du Jewish Labor Committee, plusieurs séjours aux États-Unis pour y établir des contacts et mobiliser des appuis politiques et financiers pour Neu Beginnen. Exilé involontaire dans ce pays en 1940, il s'y installa définitivement en y déployant pendant la guerre une intense activité politique visant à informer l'opinion publique américaine sur l'Allemagne nazie. Il fut parmi les fondateurs de l'American Friends of German Freedom, de l'Emergency Rescue Committee et du Council for a Democratic Germany. Après la guerre il cessa son activité politique pour se consacrer entièrement à la psychanalyse.

Bulk of the collection consists of general files (1918-1961), the medical records and notes of Dr. G. Schilling (1903-1919), records and notes pertaining to the 36th Division (1914-1962), and material concerning the 36th Division Association (1952-1955). Also included in the collection are letters and financial records, materials for Texas National Guard Commander Carl L. Phinney, the Texas Adjutant General's Department, general military materials, and scrapbook materials. Of special interest is a six volume stereographic photo library on World War II. ; The Texas National Guard serves as a state and federal agency. During peace time, the Guard is under the commmand of the governor and the adjutant genera. In wartime, the Guard is under federal supervision. The National Militia Act of 1903 (the Dick Law) made all of the different militia units within each state subject to the U.S. Army.
