This article provides a framework for understanding and substantiates assumptions as to the gender differential treatment of adolescents in criminal justice. After a presentation of the public statistics on juvenile delinquency and its institutional responses, analysed in the light of the gender perspective, judicial work and its production (educational documents, court files) will be examined qualitatively in order to capture, in their banality, gender biases operating on a daily basis in the social treatment of 'juvenile offenders' by the courts. This analysis faces the comments of professionals (educators and magistrates), collected in the course of a survey based on observations and interviews carried out at the Creteil Children's Court between June 2012 and June 2013.
