Газетно-публицистический дискурс, активно тиражируя используемые журналистами этностереотипы, не только отражает специфику национального сознания, но и способствует усилению прагматического воздействия текстов политической коммуникации на существующую в сознании читателей картину мира. The World PopulationConference in Cairo has received substantial attention and comments from the mass media and a large circle of experts, although a more basic explanation is still needed due to the result of the conference. Since abortion is considered a very important issue which dominates the field of reproductive health, it needs to further analyze the relations between abortion and the 'new concept' of reproductive health. This paper broadly analyzes the objectives and the agreed result of the conference. It also proposes several implications on the reproductive health program in Indonesia. Even though, as the mass media reported, the Cairo Conference seemed to be a conference on abortion, the theme of the conference was: Population, Sustainable Economic Growth, and Sustainable Development. Indonesia takes a very active role in the preparation of the world's population conference, including to conduct and initiate the summit population conference of the Non-Aligned Ministerial level prior the Cairo Conference. The Cairo World Population Conference has resulted in a substantially broad Population Action Program, in which the implementation needs serious consideration on the heterogeneity of the respective countries according to the priorities of development, cultural considerations, norms, religion, and law that prevails in the respective countries, yet the Conference should consider the norms of the universal human rights. Out of various materials covered in the Population Action Program, reproductive health problems have become one of the important controversial sources. For this reason it has thus been agreed to accept a "new concept" of reproductive health. Out of this 'new concept', some implications of several reproductive health programs emerge, particularly the family planning program of the countrywhich should be expanded and qualified. Even though the "new concept" of reproductive health covers sexual reproductive rights, it has been wholly agreed that abortion would not be promoted as one of the implementations of the family planning method. The target of quantity in various fields could be optimistically achieved except the maternal mortalitydecline. Without a breakthrough effort in the new reproductive healthsector the quantitative aims to reduce the maternalmortality rate in Indonesia could never be achieved.

Indonesia is one of the countries affected by COVID-19 (corona virus), Local Distance and Rafid Test (Mass Test) as a step to overcome corona so that it does not spread widely. However, the fact is that positive cases in Indonesia occurred at the beginning of March which increased, on April 5, 2020, positive cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia reached 2,273 cases, 198 died and 164 recovered. The Indonesian government issued a new policy in dealing with the spread of COVID-19 (corona) through the Large-Scale Social Restriction Policy (PSBB) as an effort to break the chain of the spread of this virus which was stipulated in Government Regulation No.21 of 2020 concerning Large-Scale Social Restrictions in the Context of Accelerated Handling of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The purpose of this journal is to describe the role of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) policy actors in overcoming the spread of COVID-19 (corona). The method used is qualitative by collecting data using library research sourced from journals, regulations and articles related to policy actors in overcoming COVID-19 (corona) and accountable information media. The results of this journal show that the large role of actors involved in the Large-Scale Social Clearance (PSBB) policy in breaking the chain of the spread of COVID-19 (corona) in Indonesia, this policy can work well when collaboration is built with 5 (five elements) subject or stakeholder elements , namely: Academicians (Academics), Business (Entrepreneurs), Community (society), Government (government) and Media (Mass Media).

Public–private partnerships are an effective way to address the global double burden of malnutrition. While public–private partnerships operate in multiple forms, their leadership usually falls to governments, public health agencies, or nongovernmental organizations, with the private sector taking a subordinate role. The rapid ascent of social media and mass communications worldwide has provided a disruptive technology for new nutrition intervention programs. A new model, provisionally called private–public engagement, takes advantage of social media, mass media, and integrated social marketing to reach parents, families, and communities directly. These new private–public engagement initiatives need to be managed in ways suggested for public–private partnerships by the World Health Organization, especially if the private sector is in the lead. Once the rationale for engagement is defined, there is a need to mobilize resources, establish in-country partnerships and codes of conduct, and provide a plan for monitoring, evaluation, and accountability. Provided here is an example consistent with the private–public engagement approach, ie, the United for Healthier Kids program, which has been aimed at families with children aged less than 12 years. Materials to inspire behavioral change and promote healthier diets and lifestyle were disseminated in a number of countries through both digital and physical channels, often in partnership with local or regional governments. A description of this program, along with strategies to promote transparency and communication among stakeholders, serves to provide guidance for the development of future effective private–public engagements.

Modern military training exercises often include an information warfare component. Combat manoeuvres and weapon tests may be combined with large-scale information operations, including attempts at mass deception and cultivation of fear via strategic uses of narratives in media. The ways in which fear is constructed in strategic narratives deserve more detailed discursive analysis. In this article, the authors use the largest recent Russian war games on NATO's eastern borders, the 'Zapad 2017' military exercise, as an example to show how to interpret fear narratives. They identify and analyse three strategic narratives that were formulated by Russian official spokespeople in relation to the exercise and uncover some of their underlying meaning-making tendencies: the logic of antithesis, affirmation through negation and the rhetoric of moral victimhood. Their analysis sheds new light on the uses of fear discourses that are more sophisticated and indirect than straightforward threats or (rhetorical) demonstrations of power to inflict damage.

The method includes examining the magazine and newspaper text for hero labels and those important hero referents that scholars have long described: distinctive physical skills, an exemplary response to a challenge, and admirable moral characteristics, as well as a reputation that transcends a lifetime.

The news of Russia launching a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 shocked the world. However, the media has different interpretations of this invasion. Ukrainian and Western media use the term "war," whereas the Russian media call it a "special military operation". Storylines or frames provided by mass media greatly influence public perception of the situation. Once a frame has become extensive in media discourse, it raises the public's expectation of the political legitimation actions by discussing the possible consequences of the crisis. From that perspective, this study examines the framing of the Russia-Ukraine war and Russian President Vladimir Putin's image in one renowned America-based media, The New York Times Online. A qualitative content analysis of commentary articles under the "Opinion" column was performed. Two hundred twenty-nine commentary articles were content analysed from 24 February 2022 to 24 December 2022. The qualitative content analysis enables the study to scrutinise the framed content of the war and the constructive and destructive character of Putin's image portrayal. Agenda setting and framing theory were used as the theoretical framework. The analysis inductively generates thematic frames by systemising the content of the articles. The findings reveal that Russia was framed as an unprovoked invader who has unmercifully onslaught Ukraine while Ukraine strives to put up an inspiring defence of its sovereignty. The image of Vladimir Putin carries a destructive character where the portrayal is conspiratorial and seclusive.

Since the 1980s, the mass media have changed the way they cover major political stories, like foreign policy crises. As a consequence, what the public learns about these events has changed. More media outlets cover major events than in the past, including the entertainment-oriented soft news media. When they do cover a political story, soft news outlets focus more on "human drama" than traditional news media – especially the character and motivations of decision-makers, as well as individual stories of heroism or tragedy – and less on the political or strategic context, or substantive nuances, of policy debates. Many Americans who previously ignored most political news now attend to some information about major political events, like wars, via the soft news media. These changes have important implications for democratic politics. Most importantly, a large number of particularly persuadable potential voters are now tuning in to politics via soft news outlets. This gives politicians an incentive to develop strategies for reaching out to them. Such individuals care less about the nuances of policy and more about the personality of leaders and any sensational human drama that a policy, like a war, entails. Soft news consumers care less about geopolitics than about body bags. Politicians who want their votes are therefore likely to emphasize body bags more than geopolitics. In short, the "new" media environment changes both the style and substance of politics in democracies.

While many studies have investigated what social and political movement actions are covered by the mass media from a largely event-based media routine perspective and many studies have investigated what activists want to say, few studies have looked into the signaling process by which movements let media know when the movement has information it wishes to express. In particular, there has been little quantitative methodological research on the critical link that press releases provide between movements and media. Are movement press releases more likely to be covered by the news media when the press releases are of good quality? Using Israeli newspaper coverage of two Israeli peace movements and press releases by the two groups, the author tested the relevance of knowing the attributes of a press release independent of event-based information. After controlling for time, place, and manner information that can be derived from an event-based approach, information that can be derived either solely from press releases or most accurately from press releases remained significant predictors of newspaper coverage. Peace movement press releases that (1) emphasize socially resonant themes,(2) emphasize the movement's possession of new factual data, (3) have short and informative titles, (4) are part of a group of releases on the same issue or event, and (5) are written or presented by the movement's regular spokesperson are more likely to be reflected in newspaper media coverage.

Research from tobacco suggests that the recreational cannabis industry will use aggressive tactics, including product innovation and mass-marketing and advertising, to increase demand for their products. The purpose of this study is to examine product promotions, branding, and promotional pricing on recreational dispensary social media pages in the state of Illinois in the first year of legal sales. Data were collected from all recreational cannabis dispensary Facebook and Twitter accounts and a quantitative content analysis was used to analyze the data. Differences in marketing practices were assessed by neighborhood race/ethnicity and income and dispensary type. Results of the study revealed that flower and edibles were the two most heavily promoted products; promotions for vaporizers and concentrates were also promoted frequently. Posts with branded promotions and price promotions increased substantially over the year. Research suggests that this trend in marketing practices will lead to greater initiation and intensity of cannabis use.

For decades, product placement and branded content have invaded more entertainment-oriented media forms; today, the rise of brand journalism (i.e. native advertising and content marketing) suggests that advertisers are now targeting news as a genre for commercial schemes. This article examines that practice through a critical analysis of advertising industry discourse including 28 in-depth interviews with brand journalism practitioners in the United States along with a decade of trade press coverage. It sketches the first historical trajectory of brand journalism and contextualizes the media industry factors that motivate participants' exploration of it as a promotional vehicle. Drawing upon guerrilla marketing theory, this article further documents how brand journalism evinces a fundamental commercial self-effacement at its core – in mimicking journalistic style and substance – and thus portends a redefinition of advertising as a visible mass communication form.
