This article examines how the labor conditions of nurses in Nicaragua have evolved through twenty-five years of health care policy and regime transition, focusing on the period since the return to power in 2007 of the Frente Sandinista de la Liberación Nacional (FSLN). I ask whether the deterioration in nurses' work-related well-being that were imposed by neoliberal health care restructuring have been redressed by the FSLN. I connect findings from interviews and focus groups with over fifty nurses to long-standing patterns in the gendering of care work, as well as the Sandinista track record in exploiting these patterns. Also relevant is the FSLN's mutual antagonism with feminist movements and its incremental but pronounced turn toward a regressive stance on gender equality. Finally, a steady drift toward authoritarianism by the FSLN government constrains the capacity for nurses to collectively assert their interests as workers and professionals.

During resuscitation, the patient is the primary focus with the documentation of actions and outcomes being secondary. In most cases, a cardiac event leads to further treatment or hospitalization, in which complex patient pathways, independent documentation systems and information loss represent the key challenges for successful quality management. Hence, the need for a system that takes all these aspects into account. Market research, system analysis and requirements engineering for such a solution were performed and a prototype was created. A complete reference architecture for a web-based electronic data capture system was developed and implemented that enables healthcare professionals to enter resuscitation-relevant data uniformly and store it centrally in compliance with human research legislation. A qualitative evaluation concerning the process flows of the as-is and the to-be situation suggests that there is potential to achieve benefits in the form of improved data quality and quantity.

Traditionally, the military is seen as an unequivocally authoritarian organization. With survey data collected at the Royal Danish Military Academy, this study shows that that is a qualified truth. Thus, cadets enrolled directly from the noncommissioned officer corps—those most acquainted with the norms of the armed forces—do not weigh authoritarian leadership values over nonauthoritarian ones. Instead, their view reflects that for the experienced leader, the context, and not overt ideals, enables them to choose the leadership tools they expect will prove most effective. On the contrary, cadets enrolled based on their civilian merits clearly prioritize authoritarian values. This is particularly true among cadets returning to the military after a break, former professionals, and former draftees alike. Their view also reflects experience, but a different kind of experience, as they have primarily encountered the military hierarchy from the receiving end.

"Sociologists in Communism. The beginnings of a profession without status" is a collective volume coordinated by Sorin Mitulescu and contains the stories of some sociology graduates in 1975 and of some of their teachers at that time. The book is both an essay in sociology and a collection of oral history papers. We understand from reading the book that sociology was at that time the victim of the oscillations in Romanian politics between the desire for modernization (especially technological) and the fearful and dogmatic conservatism that had penetrated all social levels. Sociologists in communism want to be a starting point in a broader debate on the role of sociology and the sociologist, both in the past and in the present. He discusses several topics such as the relationship between sociology and power, the professional mobility of sociologists, the relationship between personal life and the career of a practicing sociologist.

Politically motivated criticism of influencer collaborations with certain brands or organisations is a recurring feature on social media today. This article is based on a case study of followers' reactions to collaborations between two popular Swedish influencers and Visit Dubai, the governmental tourism agency of the United Arab Emirates. Drawing on critical discourse analysis, the article takes a sociocultural approach to influencer marketing and examines how and why politicisation happens in comments to sponsored posts. The analysis focuses on discursive struggles over the construction of political issues and the role of influencers, as well as expressions of perceived interconnectedness and authenticity work among followers. It offers a qualitative understanding of audience perceptions of influencers' political power and responsibilities, and argues that this is connected to how the role of influencers is constructed – as a friend or as promotional professional.

This article is a short biographical sketch of the lawyer, journalist and intellectual Miguel Ángel Navarro and his role in some events of Honduran politics at the beginning of the 20th century. To this end, his professional training and role as a journalist, as well as his political and ideological stance, are addressed at first. His participation in the Central American unionist project of 1921 is briefly described later. ; El presente artículo es un pequeño esbozo biográfico del abogado, periodista e intelectual Miguel Ángel Navarro y su papel en algunos acontecimientos de la política hondureña a inicios del siglo XX. Con esta finalidad, en un primer momento se aborda su formación profesional y su papel como periodista, así como su postura política e ideológica. Posteriormente se describe de forma breve su participación dentro del proyecto unionista centroamericano de 1921.

When Ghana Television began in 1965, its first director, Shirley Graham Du Bois, explicitly devised it as an anticolonial and pan-African indigenous television system. Likely the first Black woman to head a national station, Graham Du Bois' prominence, along with Genoveva Marais as head of programing, suggests that in its nascency Ghana Television was an exceptional place for women. Yet each woman's relationship with Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana, shadowed their professional lives and legacies. Rumors situated them along female archetypes with a powerful man firmly at the center: Graham Du Bois as Nkrumah's mother and Marais as his mistress. In this article, I argue that while Graham Du Bois and Marais' media practice rarely addressed gender inequality specifically, their work as female broadcast leaders set a precedent for decolonial feminist futures even as the coloniality of gender extended into Ghana broadcasting during the independence period.

Abstract: We learn from the study and research groups in which we are engaged and research. One of the lessons learned during our professional paths has been to integrate feminist studies, participant research and autobiographical research. In this article, we present our understanding about the integration of these three aspects, which produce our "making think" research in Education through the concept of "interpenetration", which is a manual weaving technique. It reveals threads that come together, but do not get mixed up, forming designs. As such, this technique is used as a metaphor to reflect on our methodological option. Based on these analyses, this concept represents the search for a fruitful "making think" concerning women who are excluded from formal educational processes, but who educate themselves in life, in the daily resistance to gender, class and race subjugation and, equally, in the work environment.

Research in attitudes towards people with disability has increased in last few decades for various groups. Therefore is important to focus research also to educational environment. Firstly teachers are often in professional contact with pupils with disability and have to work with them. Secondly they acts to the rest of pupils and have to prepare whole class for new possible classmate with disability. Although teachers work in this case need high competences but on the other hand attitudes are proved to be important part of it. Paper main goal is to determine possible differences between practicing teachers and teacher students in attitudes towards people with disability. We used validated questionnaire for measuring social distance towards people with disability made from Bogardus scale of social distance. In research participated 114 teachers and 118 teacher students of primary education from two universities. Results was analysed by nonparametric statistics.

Abstract Based on ethnographic research, the article reflects on experimental surgical practices related to the development of ventricular assist devices (the so-called 'artificial heart'). Focusing on the relationships between animal models and the numerous professionals involved in the experiment, the hypothesis of this article pinpoints the unavoidable game of exposing and protecting all the agents who establish relationships therein, as a condition for understanding and innovating on legitimate grounds. This game, ethnographically followed step by step, meets both scientific and ethical imperatives. The reflection leads us to consider, among other things, the sensitive, decisive character of otherness regarding experimental animals in the course of the experiments. According to the aforementioned hypothesis, this is when notions of participation and disparticipation in the game of otherness with these animal models seem to clarify the economy, simultaneously affective and intelligible, put into practice in the relationships performed therein.

Purpose: This study analyzes employee turnover in the under-researched context of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Methods: This study uses a qualitative approach to examine the reasons for turnover and strategies adopted within the hotel sector to reduce this turnover. Results: The findings reveal that turnover reasons are organization- and employee-specific. Strategies to reduce turnover include promoting a good work environment, providing transfer opportunities, talent and development planning, and implementing exit strategies to find out employees' reasons for leaving. These findings will benefit the hotel industry's human resource planning, as most employees are expatriates, and will reduce costs in terms of new recruitment. Implications: From a context based perspective cultural differences between employees' nationalities are a reason for turnover linked to differences in salary and benefits. "Social" and "economic" value are key elements for human resource professionals to consider when developing employee benefits.

As a global epidemic of the social media age, COVID-19 has also resulted in an 'infodemic', which means the uncontrolled spreading of false information about the health situation. Spreading of health information is a special intersection point of the freedom of speech, freedom of science, and the fundamental right to life and health. The paper analyses the European and Hungarian legal framework for health communication from multiple perspectives. Regulatory challenges and solutions differ for professional health communication, commercial communication and health communication by laypeople. As with all forms of misinformation, private regulations of platform operators have a significant regulatory role to play in relation to health disinformation. As a result of the analysis, the paper provides a detailed regulatory map that also covers private regulation solutions and explores the factors that need to be considered when designing a comprehensive future regulation.

Abstract
That festivities are woven into the historical image of the Austrian diplomat, foreign minister, and state chancellor Clemens von Metternich (1773–1859) is in part the byproduct of his investment in music. As an amateur performer, passionate connoisseur, attentive patron, and frequent host, Metternich cultivated an international soundworld that presented opportunities for cooperative performances. Ensemble music and collective listening provided experiences of international concert that gained significance in the context of multilateral congresses and meetings. Musical exchanges, sustained through the activity of women and professional musicians, contributed to fostering diplomatic relations and international presence. In the context of the Restoration's competing soundworlds, Metternich deployed a patronage of Rossini's work and Italian opera music, with increasing intensity but mixed effect. This history speaks to the function of music in the presentation of self in international encounters and the resources to be found in the plurality of roles diplomats perform.

Discriminating experiences of women in the academic world discourage them to take part in contests to occupy higher academic positions. People tend to evaluate academic management based on what they consider to be normal behaviour for women and men, respectively. Because of this, women are perceived as more inappropriate to occupy an academic managerial position than men, especially in fields (such as the academic field) where male stereotypes are regarded as more efficient. Focusing on the obstacles women met in their attempt to reach a scientific/ academic management position, we have noticed that one of the major difficulties women in the academic world are confronted with when they have to decide in relation with their participation in the academic management refers to creating a balance between family life and their career, as domestic activities are normally time-consuming, limiting the period which could be dedicated to professional activities.

To promote the financial capabilities of student loan borrowers, practitioners must understand the experiences and needs of borrowers across the life course. A national survey ( n = 1,874) conducted by MIT AgeLab explored perceived loan-related effects across the life course and sources of advice for borrowers. Across age groups, repaying student loans had most regularly imposed negative perceived effects on multiple domains of borrowers' financial well-being. Younger borrowers reported more negative perceived effects of loans across domains, whereas older borrowers reported fewer negative perceived effects. Few participants had sought professional advice about student loan repayment, although younger borrowers were more likely to have sought loan-related advice in general; perceived levels of helpfulness of advice and comfort consulting with contacts were mixed. Financial social work is uniquely situated to act as a resource for multiple generations of student loan borrowers and their families.
