Focusing on places, objects, bodies, narratives and ritual spaces where religion may be found or inscribed, the authors reveal the role of religion in contesting rights to places, to knowledge and to property, as well as access to resources. Through analyses of specific historical processes in terms of responses to socio-economic and political change, the chapters consider implicitly or explicitly the problematic relation between science (including social sciences and anthropology in particular) and religion, and how this connects to the new religious globalisation of the twenty-first century. Their ethnographies highlight the embodiment of religion and its location in landscapes, built spaces and religious sites which may be contested, physically or ideologically, or encased in memory and often in silence. Taken together, they show the importance of religion as a resource to the believers: a source of solace, spiritual comfort and self-willed submission

; The constitutions of many States set out the obligation of the government to guarantee a well-functioning and reliable system of protection against industrial injuries. Whether the government provides workers ' compensation insurance directly, or when it is delegated to a third party (special authorities or insurance companies), the government is still responsible for the operation of the system. The latter is of particular importance, since the settlement of claims for workers ' compensation insurance is of a long-term nature. An effective system of protection against industrial injuries and occupational diseases should be considered not only as a type of insurance but as an absolute need of the productive sector and as one of the foundations of social peace and economic stability.
We have come here to Yalta for the third conference organized by the International Affairs journal with support of the Foreign Ministry of Russia to discuss Eurasian integration, an unprecedentedly broad subject, with people invited from a broad geographic space: we have guests from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Ukraine, Italy, and Russia and we are very glad to see all of you here. The subject covers a vast territory and large populations, great economies which have their problems but are gradually getting out of the crisis. I am looking forward to our discussion. Relevance. In modern conditions, the innovative development of the region is largely determined by the environment that promotes the activation of innovative activities of regional stakeholders. The formation of an innovative environment becomes an important task due to the objective process of transition from an economy based on production factors to an economy based on knowledge. Moreover, socio-economic factors (the quality of the infrastructure environment, the state of the economy and the innovation system) affect innovative development to a greater extent than scientific and technological progress. The economic behavior of a society is formed on the basis of established behavioral attitudes and moral values as a socio-cultural vector of its development. In this regard, there is an objective need to study the formation of the innovative environment of the region from the standpoint of the socio-cultural approach. The purpose of the study is to provide a theoretical justification for the use of the socio-cultural approach in the study of the problem of the formation of the innovation environment in the region, as well as to analyze the socio-cultural factors in terms of their impact on the innovation activity of regional stakeholders. The objectives of the research are to study the theoretical foundations and methodological aspects that reveal the issues of the formation of the innovation environment of the region, as well as to justify the use of a socio-cultural approach to study the interaction of stakeholders of the innovation process and their attitude to innovation. Methodology. The methodological basis of the research consists of general scientific methods of cognition, statistical methods, as well as the principles and methods of the systematic approach. The information component of the study includes data from Russian state statistics, reference data from domestic and foreign scientific literature, materials of scientific and practical conferences, scientific journals and the Internet environment. Results. As a result of the study, it is established that the innovative development of the region involves the improvement of the system of social reproduction on the basis of the introduction of technological, institutional and social innovations. The modern paradigm of regional development is based on a set of approaches, among which, according to the authors, the socio-cultural approach is becoming relevant, involving the study and assessment of such factors as the socio-cultural profile of the region, the attitude of the population to new technologies and to technological entrepreneurship. In the course of the study, the main principles of the formation of the innovation environment of the region are formulated, taking into account the concept of «smart specialization» and the model of "four-link spiral of innovation". Conclusions. The innovation environment of the region is a source that creates "windows of opportunity" for stakeholders of the innovation process, and causes stagnation of regional innovation activity. The perception of innovations by all participants of the innovation process, determined by individual characteristics and group socio-economic characteristics, is a factor of openness to new technological achievements. This fact should be taken into account in the innovation policy of the region with an emphasis on the formation of an innovative environment that ensures the innovative activity of stakeholders.
The article studies a Roman burial of a child with a large number of dogs, found in Deir El-Banat necropolis (Fayum, Egypt). The burial is unique not only for the Fayum oasis, but for the whole Egypt. More than 140 mummified dogs were found in the child's burial. The dogs were of different breeds and ages, mostly puppies. It is suggested that adult dogs and puppies, in particular, were specially raised and prepared to be buried with the child. Some dogs were made up of anatomically misplaced parts. The child was 8—9 years old at the time of death. For burial, he was dressed in a tunic, with his hands fixed and his head in a bag. The child, most likely, was ill with anemia and died from this disease.
A few soil types were studied at the south-west coast of West Spitsbergen Island during 2004–2018. The article discusses the morphological features and properties of the most common soil types in the surveyed area, including Folic Sceletic Umbrisols, Sceletic Umbrisols of the polygonal complexes, Histic Gleysols and Folic Gleysols of tussock bog, and Sceletic Dystric Regosols.
The current study shows that decomposition of plant residues in the Umbrisol of Spitsbergen proceeds quite intensively despite the high latitudinal position. The rate of decomposition depends on the type of plant. The dependence of the decomposition intensity on the altitude is less clear.
The current state of soil fertility was estimated at 2 sites of experimental fields of the Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden. Soils in both areas are characterized by a light granulometric composition. The sites vary in the content of organic matter in the soils, as well as the acidity and proportion of the sites where the liming is needed. The availability of phosphorus at all sites in both areas is characterized as high, potassium — from medium to high, mineral forms of nitrogen — as very low.
OBJECTIVES: Advances in genetic technologies provide opportunities for patient care and ethical challenges. Clinical care of patients with rare Mendelian disorders is often at the forefront of those developments. Whereas in classical polygenic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), the predictive value of genetic variants is very low, predictive prenatal genetic diagnosis can inform families at high risk of severe genetic disorders. Patients with IL-10 signalling defects because of pathogenic variants in IL10RA, Il10RB, and IL10 develop severe infantile onset inflammatory bowel disease that is completely penetrant and has a high morbidity and substantial mortality despite treatment. METHODS: We performed a survey among tertiary specialist paediatric centers of 10 countries on the utilization of predictive prenatal genetic diagnosis in IL-10 signalling defects. We retrospectively report prenatal genetics in a series of 8 families. RESULTS: International variation in legislation, guidelines, expert opinion, as well as cultural and religious background of families and clinicians results in variable utilization of preimplantation and prenatal genetic testing for IL-10 signalling defects. Eleven referrals for prenatal diagnosis for IL-10 signalling defects were identified across 4 countries. We report on 8 families who underwent prenatal preimplantation monogenic testing after in vitro fertilization (n = 2) and/or by amniocentesis/chorion villus sampling (n = 6). A genetic diagnosis was established in 1 foetus and excluded in 7 foetuses (all IL10RA variants). CONCLUSIONS: Prenatal genetic testing for IL10R-defects is feasible, yet the legal and ethical considerations are complex and controversial. In some countries, predictive genetics for IL-10-related signalling defects is entering clinical practice.
