Abstract
The European Union (EU) plays a facilitating role in the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia. The EU has applied a proactive approach to normalization through several agreements, initially of a technical and later of a political nature. This gradual approach has produced a relative success in the easing of relations between the parties and in creating the conditions for a final agreement, which, however, still remains far from being reached. The main argument of this article is that both sides hold diametrically opposed positions and the EU still remains a powerless actor in pushing the parties to find a long-term solution to the conflict between them.

This paper analyses the strategic objectives of the Spanish policies and laws for the protection of chil-dren. Besides, it will be considered the same policies and laws in one of its most prosperous Autono-mous Communities, Catalonia. Specifically, it shows the influence of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the role of the European Union in these policies in the social, educational and health fields. Finally, the challenges that Spain must facein relation to the protection of children's rights are analysed in the light of the observations of the Committee on the Rights of the Child in its Report of March 5, 2018. ; info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

In this paper we characterize the boundedness, compactness, and weak compactness of the integration operators Tg(f)(z) = ˆ z 0 f(w)g (w) dw acting on the average radial integrability spaces RM(p, q). This work focuses on identifying the source of BTEX (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylene) emissions generated by hydrocarbon-related industrial activities and evaluation of its impact on ambient air quality according to European Union (EU) regulations during 2019. The spatial distribution of BTEX concentrations suggest that massive emissions are mainly due to the oil refining activity. BTEX concentration levels at the sampling sites show that benzene was more dominant. Considering the level of atmospheric pollution relative to the indicative value (2µg/m3) recommended by the EU, the ambient air is considered to be quite polluted with benzene content (5.36 µg/m3) produced mainly by emissions from the oil refining industrial complex.

Abstract The goal of this paper is to study the effects of exchange rate arrangements and euro area (EA) membership on the economic growth of ten new member states (NMS) from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), which joined the European Union (EU) in 2004 and 2007 – the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Romania. Croatia is excluded from the analysis since it became a EU member relatively late - in 2013. A vector autoregression (VAR) of annual data for the period 2007-2017 is employed. The empirical results provide statistical evidence that flexible exchange rates and EA membership favor the economic growth of the NMS from CEE.

Thanks to funding reveived through the DARIAH-EU Working Group Funding framework and contributions from the Austrian and Croatian National consortiums, the DARIAH-EU working group ELDAH (Ethics and Legality in Digital Arts and Humanities, https://eldah.hypotheses.org/) was able to develop a tool that provides standardized consent form templates for obtaining legal consent from human participants: The DARIAH ELDAH Consent Form Wizard (CFW). The CFW enables digital scholars and the wider research infrastructure community to quickly and easily obtain a standardized consent form that is legally valid in all of the European Union. The tool is freely accessible online and is currently being translated into various languages.

Malaysia is a pioneer in drafting and executing personal data protection law among the ASEAN countries. However, the adequacy of this protection regime is questionable. This study is aimed at evaluating the aptitude of the Personal Data Protection Act (2010) (P.D.P.A.) from the application perspective. The evaluation and analysis of the application and scope of the P.D.P.A. through comparative and descriptive approaches shows that the Act has provided for a narrow scope with wide exemptions. This approach may hinder a standard personal data protection legal system for the protection of individuals' privacy. Moreover, the P.D.P.A. will fail the adequacy test of the developed nations such as the European Union Member States.

In Lithuania, international music competitions are organised by a non-governmental public institution "Natų knygynas". This institution holds membership in different international organisations like the European Union of Music Competitions for Youth (EMCY) and the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC). The purpose of this report is to study the characteristics of EMCY and WFIMC international networks by applying comparative analysis of scientific literature and analysis of primary and secondary documents. The article presents the benefits of networking for international music competitions in Lithuania.

The fuel demand in transport sector seems to be raised on a short and also on a long term base in the European Union and worldwide as well. A constantly growing trend is foreseen through 2050 worldwide as for using bio-based energy or fuels. Questions can arise before using these kinds of fuels in connection with the use of clean water or in terms of soil degradation, plant nutrients. It is also questionable whether they can be useful regarding their usage. First-, and second generation liquid as well as third generation gaseous bio-based fuels will be in focus in this article. They will be analyzed from physical-chemical properties and pollutant emission points of view.

Applications of AI, in particular data-driven decision-making, concern citizens, governments and corporations. China was one of the first countries to have identified AI as a key technology in which to invest heavily and develop a national strategy. This in turn has led to many other countries and the European Union (EU) to develop their own strategies. The societal investments and applications of AI are so far-reaching that looking only at the resulting technological innovations is insufficient. Instead we need to be aware of the societal implications of AI applications – of which there are many – as well as the geo-political role of business and academic players.
