Sprache unterm Hakenkreuz: eine andere Geschichte des Nationalsozialismus
Der ermeritierte Frankfurter Philologe, der 2000 das "Lexikon der Unwörter" herausgegeben hat, analysiert in seiner wissenschaftlichen Monografie, welche Bedeutung Sprache für die nationalsozialistische Machteroberung und Herrschaftssicherung hatte. Neben aussersprachlichen Mitteln wie den propagandistischen Masseninszenierungen setzte der NS-Staat über Umdeutungen und Sprachverbote und eine gezielte politisch-ideologische Ausrichtung von Begriffen auch die Sprache als Propagandainstrument ein. Schlosser zeichnet das detailliert nach, analysiert, immer auf den historischen Kontext bezogen, Schlüsselbegriffe und politische Schlagworte und stellt die Sprache im NS-Staat auch in den Kontext der übergreifenden Sprachentwicklung. Der allgemeine Sprachgebrauch, so seine These, wurde so wirksam gelenkt, dass er die Gesellschaft bis in den Alltag und selbst in den Widerstand hinein prägen und so zu einer "Sprache des Nationalsozialismus" werden konnte.
