Hizb Al-Wasat (the Center party) was founded in 1996 in Egypt by a group of former Muslim Brothers. Since it has never been formally accepted by the Party committee, it spent the 14 last years as a taht al-tâ'sîs (waiting for institutionalization) party. The objective of this thesis is to understand how the Wasat members are trying to achieve their goals – becoming professional politicians – with a little legal margin due to their taht al-tâ'sîs situation. This work is mainly relying on two corpuses: 29 interviews done in Cairo during the spring of 2008 with almost all the members of the Wasat executive committee and with several members of other opponent organizations, and the "chronological textual series" compounded of the four Wasat programs, as they have been presented to the Party committee for each of its case submissions (1996, 1998, 2004 and 2009). This last corpus has been studied through a lexicometric analysis. But the transcripts of the interviews – due to their heterogeneity – have first been translated into French, and then been categorized. Lastly, the categorized data have been studied by the means of statistics. Results of this study are showing that the semantic field of the Wasat program evolved since the beginning (from a militant to a technocratic discourse), as well as its membership (it attracted new members, with a different political background from founders). In addition, Wasat members succeed to manage for themselves a place in a space located at the boundaries of the intellectual and the political fields, particularly through their relations with some Wasatiya intellectuals. Finally, this party members became a part of the Egyptian opposition network, inside which they are playing a leading role.

International audience ; Antoine Léon (1921-1998), was a vocational guidance counselor at the research department of Inetop between 1947 and 1957. Mentored by Henri Wallon and active communist, he elaborates, with several of his colleagues, a pedagogical guidance opposed to the approach, then dominating in France, driven by Henri Piéron, based on the evaluation of abilities by psychotechnical tests. He distanced himself from the political line of his party. He became a professor of education at Sorbonne university and a specialist in history and psychology, after a prolific career of almost fifty years marked by the publication of fifteen books and one hundred and sixty articles.

; The accidental discovery of archives preserved intact since 1941, brings a new light to the career of the French artist Michel Maximilien Leenhardt (known as Max Leenhardt). These sources reveal the multiple interests of a creator who was a painter, engraver, architect, writer and philosopher. The approach to his production is complex since it adapts to a relational context, a particular aim or an artistic emulation, obliging us to consider some of them, given their printed edition, as propaganda works which carry a political or mystical message. During the periods of socio-economic crisis and armed conflicts, painting "on the motive" is a way to philosophical and mystical thoughts. Max Leenhardt then joined the ideals of the movement of the «renewal of Swiss Christian art», whether through historical canvases with dimensions close to gigantism or sunsets on horizons. Thus, after identifying each network and their respective influences on the artistic production, we will detail the aspirations and compromises achieved by the artist. It is in fact his belonging to the Protestant upper bourgeoisie and his education that will force him to face aesthetic challenges, such as inventing an aesthetic halfway between impressionism and symbolism able to convey a committed message, militant or spiritual.
; Felix Bovie first made a career as a landscape painter. Later on however, he completely devoted himself to the writing of poetic texts for songs he interpreted himself as a mid-19th-century singer songwriter. A scion of a wealthy family living in the Belgian capital, he frequented bourgeois associations such as the Masonic lodges but he was also an adept of more bohemian, frolicsome societies who liked to mock Freemasonry as such. The song text production of Bovie, which has often been compared to the one of French liberal singer Béranger, can only be understood in the interface of all those specific spheres. There, artistic and more saucy motives went along definitely anticlerical and particular Masonic themes. Bovie had been accepted by the Amis Philanthropes lodge but eventually left for another Brussels lodge that rejected the politically militant kind of Freemasonry the former advocated. The songs Bovie wrote and performed celebrated a ...
International audience ; Journalism occupied an important place in the career and work of Camus. In l'Alger Républicain where he started his career, Camus took a polemical stand, criticized the political system and society in the context of the rise of fascism before the war and sometimes in the Dreyfusian tradition. At the newspaper Combat, born of the Resistance, he tried to realize the noble aims of vigilance and objectivity, derived from the spirit of the struggle against the occupier and his collaborators. He elaborated the notion of critical journalism, making an effort to always distinguish between opinion and information.
