Changing Trends and Major Issues in International Migration: An Overview of UNESCO Programmes
In: International social science journal: ISSJ, Band 52, Heft 3, S. 255-268
Abstract
This article examines international migration trends since the WWII & reviews UNESCO program activities. In view of the social, economic, cultural & human rights aspects of migration, the organization has focused considerable efforts on its two distinct but related components: internal & international. The social, cultural, educational, & occupational problems specific to women migrants -- a theme that, in the 1980s, took on increasing importance & independence as reflected in a number of UNESCO meetings & publications -- is reviewed. The complexity of recent migration flows, emerging issues & the need to provide viable policy responses has led UNESCO to develop new methods of research & support for policy formulation by establishing regional migration research networks. 23 References.
