Abstract

Examines the US-North Korea conflict over suspected nuclear weapons production, analyzing the roles of regional politics & relationship between North & South Korea. The historical background of the potential use of atomic warfare against the People's Republic of China & North Korea during the Korean War is considered key, as is the continued deployment of a nuclear arsenal in South Africa. It is argued that negotiations have not been of a technological nature, & thus not pertinent to the 1994 International Atomic Energy Council of Vienna (Austria). It is further contended the US & South Korea have strong political motives not to negotiate; however, normalization of the two sides' relationship is concluded to be the only path to resolution.
