Abstract

Counceling as a profession: Sociological considerations. Emergence of a profession. Dr. Wolfgang Graf's dissertation explores the emergence of the counseling and consulting profession within the historical context of the transition from an industrial to service economy. The author, who has worked for many years as a life coach, parenting and psychology counselor, studies the interactions and contradictions of professional counseling with the increased demand for counseling and consulting. He critically examines the empirical material on the subject and the role of the individual client receiving counseling, complementing theory with case studies from the counseling practice. Diese Frage stellt die Studie aus soziologischer Perspektive und rückt sie in den Kontext des sozialgeschichtlichen Umbruchs von der Industrie- zur Dienstleistungsgesellschaft.
