Abstract

The article discusses the chances of the three main contenders for the succession of Khomeini: the designated successor Montazeri, the speaker of the parliament Rafsanjani and the President Ali Khamenei. It is argued that the field of contenders has narrowed to the former two of them, but that a period of military coups also could not be ruled out. (DÜI-Asd)
