La Grande-Bretagne : une participation réticente

Abstract
IN SEARCH OF A NEW WORLD ECONOMIC ORDER. GREAT BRITAIN: RELUCTANT PARTICIPATION, by FRANÇOISE DE LA SERRE
The initial reticence regarding the objective of a new international economic order has now given way in London to numerous statements in favour of greater independence between the industrialized and the developing countries. Despite a few initiatives however — of which the most spectacular is the proposal for a general agreement on commodities — British policy is directed more towards modifying the existing system than reforming international economic relations as a whole. From this point of view, the measures taken to counter the recession and the maintaining of a sufficient volume of world trade are more important than a reorganisation of the monetary system, while a strategy based on trade and multilateral aid is preferred to a more far-reaching change in structures.
