Abstract

The paper deals with the problem of creating the sociological school of law in the history of Russian political and legal thought. Based on the analysis of both Russian and foreign legal literature, the study shows several important aspects of genesis and development of sociological interpretations of law in views of the classic legal sociologists, including the Russian sociological school of law which is considered as an independent and original phenomenon. The analysis of the legal views of the representatives of the sociological school of law in Russia and modern research demonstrate that understanding the real meaning of the relevant interpretations of law in the works of such representatives is often accompanied by irregularities and modifications that are largely related to the problem of interpreting the specific nature of the sociological approach to the law as a whole.
