Correspondence between Catherine May, Constituent Harold Hooper, and his son regarding brutality in the Marine Corps, 1961

Abstract

Constituent Harold Hooper writes to Catherine May to relay instances of drill instructor brutality in the Marine Corps as told by his son, John Hooper. Hooper expresses his outrage to May, and includes an affidavit signed by a member of Hooper's platoon which details the abuse. May takes immediate action to start an investigation and expresses her shared outrage at the brutality.
