Abstract

Based on original sources and scientific works analyzed the role of local governments in the development of education in the Volyn province in the early twentieth century. It was found that due to their activities in the province gradually increased network of educational institutions. Proved that by funding education from local budgets amount of different types of training increased. Despite this positive trend in much of the poor population of the region was unable to receive an education, and many children do not attend school and continue to remain illiterate. It also local authorities have initiated opening in county towns of Volyn province new schools at the same time they also greatly increased education funding by the city budget. In secondary schools education children received only wealthy inhabitants of the province because of high tuition fees. So in the early twentieth century. Local governments played an important role in the development of education in Volyn. Досліджуючи питання, пов'язані з роллю органів місцевого самоврядування в розвитку мережі закладів освіти на Волині, слід відмітити, що на початку ХХ ст. вони розподілялися на чо- ловічі та жіночі. Це відображало тогочасну точку зору більшості євро- пейських країн, яка полягала в тому, що жіноцтво не потребувало спеці- альної освіти в силу гендерних особливостей.
