Abstract

Lithuania regained its independence, changed the political, economic and social situation, in particular, has been developed in agriculture, which has become a key pillar of economic development. The paper analyzes sustainable rural development and small and medium-sized business opportunities for the investigation of the European Union on agricultural development and rural development Lithuanian strategic principles and priorities. In the article is presented results of survey, which aims to investigate the small and medium business development opportunities in rural areas, what are the problems encountered and how the state's role in this context. The study was conducted in the region of Telšiai, but the results reflect the situation throughout the Lithuania. [.]
