Searches for heavy ZZ and ZW resonances in the llqq and vvqq final states in pp collisions at root s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

Abstract

WOS: 000426797300009 ; This paper reports searches for heavy resonances decaying into ZZ or ZW using data from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of root s - 13 TeV. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb(-1), were recorded with the ATLAS detector in 2015 and 2016 at the Large Hadron Collider. The searches are performed in final states in which one Z boson decays into either a pair of light charged leptons (electrons and muons) or a pair of neutrinos, and the associated W boson or the other Z boson decays hadronically. No evidence of the production of heavy resonances is observed. Upper bounds on the production cross sections of heavy resonances times their decay branching ratios to ZZ or ZW are derived in the mass range 300-5000 GeV within the context of Standard Model extensions with additional Higgs bosons, a heavy vector triplet or warped extra dimensions. Production through gluon-gluon fusion, Drell-Yan or vector-boson fusion are considered, depending on the assumed model. ; MESTD, Serbia; ANASAzerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS); SSTC, Belarus; DFGGerman Research Foundation (DFG); Idex; Minerva, Israel; BRF, Norway; IN2P3- CNRSCentre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS); INFN, ItalyIstituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare; FCT, PortugalPortuguese Foundation for Science and Technology; EU- ESFEuropean Union (EU); BSF, GIF; DOEUnited States Department of Energy (DOE); FAPESP, BrazilFundacao de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de Sao Paulo (FAPESP); DNRF; DNSRC, DenmarkDanish Natural Science Research Council; NSERCNatural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada; BCKDF, the Canada Council, CANARIE; CERCA Programme Generalitat de Catalunya; ARRSSlovenian Research Agency - Slovenia; CNRST, Morocco; NWO, Netherlands; MNiSWMinistry of Science and Higher Education, Poland; Generalitat Valenciana, SpainGeneralitat Valenciana; Wallenberg Foundation, Sweden; MEXTMinistry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan (MEXT); NSF, United States of AmericaNational Science Foundation (NSF); ARCAustralian Research Council; MINECO, Spain; RGC, Hong Kong SAR, ChinaHong Kong Research Grants Council; ERCEuropean Research Council (ERC); NCN, Poland; TAEK, TurkeyMinistry of Energy & Natural Resources - Turkey; COLCIENCIAS, ColombiaDepartamento Administrativo de Ciencia, Tecnologia e Innovacion Colciencias; FWF, AustriaAustrian Science Fund (FWF); MPG, GermanyMax Planck Society; STFC, United KingdomScience & Technology Facilities Council (STFC); SRC; ANRFrench National Research Agency (ANR); SNSFSwiss National Science Foundation (SNSF); MNE/ IFA, Romania; Marie Sk lodowska- Curie Actions, European UnionEuropean Union (EU); Ontario Innovation Trust, Canada; Benoziyo Center, Israel; ERDFEuropean Union (EU); BMBFFederal Ministry of Education & Research (BMBF); GSRT, GreeceGreek Ministry of Development-GSRT; ANPCyT, ArgentinaANPCyT; CNPqNational Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq); Fondation Partager le Savoir, France; R ~ egion AuvergneRegion Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes; SRNSF; In- vestissements d'Avenir LabexFrench National Research Agency (ANR); VSC CR, Czech RepublicCzech Republic Government; JSPS, JapanMinistry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan (MEXT)Japan Society for the Promotion of Science; DST/ NRF, South Africa; CFI, CanadaCanada Foundation for Innovation; MSMT CRMinistry of Education, Youth & Sports - Czech Republic; Thales and Aristeia programmes; YerPhI, Armenia; CONICYTComision Nacional de Investigacion Cientifica y Tecnologica (CONICYT); MSSR, Slovakia; Royal SocietyRoyal Society of London; FQRNTFQRNT; NSFC, ChinaNational Natural Science Foundation of China; MPO CR; AvH Foundation, GermanyAlexander von Humboldt Foundation; CEA- DRF/ IRFU, France; RCN, Norway; Greek NSRFGreek Ministry of Development-GSRT; Leverhulme Trust, United KingdomLeverhulme Trust; MOST, TaiwanMinistry of Science and Technology, Taiwan ; We acknowledge the support of ANPCyT, Argentina; YerPhI, Armenia; ARC, Australia; BMWFW and FWF, Austria; ANAS, Azerbaijan; SSTC, Belarus; CNPq and FAPESP, Brazil; NSERC, NRC and CFI, Canada; CERN; CONICYT, Chile; CAS, MOST and NSFC, China; COLCIENCIAS, Colombia; MSMT CR, MPO CR and VSC CR, Czech Republic; DNRF and DNSRC, Denmark; IN2P3-CNRS, CEA-DRF/IRFU, France; SRNSF, Georgia; BMBF, HGF, and MPG, Germany; GSRT, Greece; RGC, Hong Kong SAR, China; ISF, I-CORE and Benoziyo Center, Israel; INFN, Italy; MEXT and JSPS, Japan; CNRST, Morocco; NWO, Netherlands; RCN, Norway; MNiSW and NCN, Poland; FCT, Portugal; MNE/IFA, Romania; MES of Russia and NRC KI, Russian Federation; JINR; MESTD, Serbia; MSSR, Slovakia; ARRS and MIZS, Slovenia; DST/NRF, South Africa; MINECO, Spain; SRC and Wallenberg Foundation, Sweden; SERI, SNSF and Cantons of Bern and Geneva, Switzerland; MOST, Taiwan; TAEK, Turkey; STFC, United Kingdom; DOE and NSF, United States of America.
