Among the scholars trying to grasp the
nuances and trends of social policy, there are diverse perspectives,
resulting not only from the extensive knowledge of the authors on
the systematic approach to the issue of supporting older people but
also from the grounds of the represented social gerontology
schools. In the texts of Volume VII interesting are both distinct
and coherent elements presenting the role of local, regional and
global policies in the prism of the countries from which the
authors originate: the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia,
Poland, Slovakia, Italy, Turkey, and the United States.
The chapters show a wealth of methodological approaches
to the perception of social policy and its tools. In the texts there
are issues related to the idea of active ageing, discrimination
against older people in the workplace, comparability of solutions
friendly to employment of older adults in the Czech Republic,
Poland, and Slovakia as well as focused on the importance of
educational forms (universities of the third age, senior clubs, folk
high schools, and other non-formal solutions) determining an
active life in old age.
This monograph also attempted to answer the question
regarding how to transfer the idea of intergenerational learning
into the realm of practice. This issue complements the chapter on
the implementation of intergenerational programs in institutions
providing long-term care support. The book also outlines a public
policy on ageing in the perspective of the changes over the last
few decades (Slovenia) and the case demonstrating solutions to
accelerate self-reliance as a key to active ageing (Turkey).

The quality and safety of raw materials and food products are inextricably linked. Table eggs are subjected to special monitoring due to the microbial hazards. So far, bacterial hazards have been monitored on table eggs. However, latest reports have pointed a threat that has not been considered for table eggs, which is microfungi. Microfungi can grow on the surface of eggshells and penetrate inside the eggs. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the microbiological state of the eggshells surface, which will guarantee the safety of egg consumption and also reduce spoilage. Therefore, the aim of the present work was to examine on how egg sanitation with prepared hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) containing silver ions affected the growth dynamics of microfungi and the production of mycotoxins during egg storage. The results showed that H2O2 with silver ions was effective against microfungi, while simultaneously inhibited production of mycotoxins. The egg sanitation treatment with a solution of H2O2 with silver ions reduced the count of microfungi and stopped growing after one week of storage. The effectiveness of lower concentrations of the prepared solution against the microfungi may have been caused by silver ions. There was a small decrease in Haugh unit value of eggs sanitised with H2O2 and silver ions in the final period of storage. The results showed that the treatment of eggs with H2O2 with silver ions slowed down the spoilage process and effectively reduced the content of microfungi and mycotoxins.

AbstractThe aim of the article is to reveal the level of problematic smartphone use (PSU) among young people, with an additional aim being to diagnose the level of use of applications offering ready access to popular social networks (SNS—e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Pinterest). The text fills a gap related to the scale and mechanisms of PSUs. The research was conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2022, and is the first study of its kind in the country. A total of 1,024 young people participated in the study (age range 14–19 years; Female 627, Male 397). From the data collected, it was noted that: 1) Loss of control of the duration of smartphone use is the most common symptom of PSU; 2) Around 40% of respondents report having problems with self-control of duration of smartphone use; 3) 17.19% of the sample have high intensity of almost all diagnostic criteria of PSU; 4) About 1/3 of respondents declare no symptoms of PSU; 5) High intensity of PSU is more common in girls than in boys; 6) Instagram and TikTok are the most frequently used applications on smartphones; 7) More than half of the respondents use Instagram software constantly or almost constantly during the day, while less than 40% use TikTok-enabled software; 8) Girls are slightly more likely to use Instagram-enabled and TikTok-enabled software on smartphones; 9) Frequency of use of SNS software on smartphones is a poor predictor of PSU rates.

Malinowski is often considered as a pioneer in the ethnographic field research methods, such as participant observation, interviews, and statistics.
