Mestrado em Economia Monetária e Financeira ; O objectivo desta dissertação é apresentar os programas de Quantitative Easing levados a cabo nos Estados Unidos da América, Reino Unido, Zona Euro e no Japão durante a Crise Financeira de 2007-2009 e avaliar o seu impacto na variação das taxas de juro de longo prazo para títulos do Governo, usando dados mensais e trimestrais. A analise empírica consiste em quatro equações para cada frequência temporal usando um estimador OLS. No caso dos USA, foi encontrado suporte de que as politicas de QE diminuem a taxa de juro de longo prazo para títulos do Governo. A mesma relação foi encontrada para o Reino Unido, no entanto com menos assertividade. Os resultados para a Zona Euro e para o Japão foram ambíguos, não foi possível determinar o impacto das medidas de QE para estes países. ; The aim of this dissertation is to clarify the Quantitative Easing programmes employed by the United States of America, United Kingdom, Euro Area and Japan during the financial crisis of 2007-2009 and assess its impact into the variation of the long-term Government bond yield, using monthly and quarterly based data. The empirical analysis consisted in four equations for each timeframe using an OLS estimator. It was found evidence supporting that QE diminishes the variation of the long-term Government bond yield in the US. On the UK case, it was found evidence that QE measures reduces the explained variable but with modest strength. In the EA and in Japan the results were ambiguous and one cannot be assertive about the impact of QE policies for both economies. ; info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

A partir do estudo de dois conjuntos de habitação social construídos em Marvila (Lisboa), conhecidos por Zona J e Pantera Cor-de-Rosa, propomos investigar o modo como se organizam e são utilizados os espaços de circulação e acessos em edifícios de grande porte organizados em galeria. Além dos espaços públicos e privados verificámos a existência de espaços semipúblicos, aqui designados de nem-nem, nem públicos nem privados, que correspondem aos espaços de circulação, no interior dos edifícios partilhados por vários lotes : corredores, galerias, halls, passadiços (circulações horizontais), ou escadas, rampas e elevadores (circulações verticais), cuja apropriação é pouco clara. O modo como esses espaços se organizam traz consequências positivas e negativas para os seus habitantes. Por um lado, é propício ao estabelecimento de relações de pertença pela apropriação por parte dos seus moradores, por outro, é motivo e área de conflito entre moradores de diferentes lotes, tornando a gestão difícil pela deficiente definição dos limites entre público e privado.

Tomando como ponto de partida a inter‑relação entre História, memória e narrativa, com este texto trazemos para discussão questões e interrogações de carácter metodológico sobre o uso da narrativa biográfica como possibilidade de História. As nossas reflexões são realizadas a partir de várias leituras, feitas a posteriori, sobre os percursos de vida de Zedequias Manganhela e Eduardo Mondlane. Procuramos, assim, situar a configuração e reconfiguração dos discursos no contexto da "recuperação" de uma história nacional, que também mergulha no seio da construção de figuras de heróis nacionais. Tudo isto se situa ainda, quer no quadro de uma história oficial de Moçambique, quer no quadro da própria história institucional da Igreja Presbiteriana de Moçambique/Missão Suíça à qual os dois protagonistas se encontravam intrinsecamente ligados, desafiando-nos a enfrentar as armadilhas da escrita biográfica.

Previous studies on multiple perpetrator rapes have shown that male sexual offenders who commit their offense alone differ on offender, offense, and victim characteristics from those who commit their offense in duos and 3+ groups. For the current study, 246 female sexual offenders have been studied regarding their co-offending pattern and the differences in offender, offense, and victim characteristics. Significant differences between solo ( n = 73), duos ( n = 146), and 3+ group offenders ( n = 27) were found for the age at the first conviction, age at the time of the index offense, performed sexual acts, physical and verbal violence, victim gender, victim relationship, victim age, and location where the abuse took place. There were four indicators that could predict the assault type. Co-offenders were more likely than solo offenders to perform penetration on a female, intrafamilial victim who they assaulted indoors. These results have implications for interventions with offenders and criminal justice authorities.

The effect of number of perpetrators involved in multiple perpetrator rapes on offense characteristics is underresearched despite beliefs that duos/dyads differ in their interactions and dynamics to groups of 3+ members. We analyzed a national sample of 336 allegations of completed and attempted rape of female victims from the United Kingdom. Rapes committed by multiple (duos and groups of 3+ perpetrators) and lone offenders were compared on offense characteristics (incorporating the approach, maintenance, and closure phases of each rape) and victim and offender sociodemographic characteristics. Significant differences between rapes committed by lone, duo, and 3+ group offenders were found for the age and ethnicity of the offenders; the type of approach used; the locations of the initial contact, assault, and release of the victims; the use of a vehicle; the precautions utilized; the verbal themes present; and the sex acts performed. These results have implications for educational prevention programs and interventions with offenders.

This study aims to explain the distribution, maturity and population structure of Meganyctiphanes norvegica and Thysanoessa inermis in springtime in relation to main hydrographic regions around Iceland: Atlantic in the southwest, Atlantic-Arctic mixture in the north and Arctic in the east. Krill were collected 14–29 May 2013 using a macrozooplankton trawl. Biomass of both species combined was significantly higher in the southwest than in north and east. M. norvegica clearly dominated in Atlantic waters, whereas T. inermis was more evenly distributed around the island, while the highest values were also observed in the southwest for this species. Simple linear regressions showed that the abundance of M. norvegica was positively related to temperature, salinity and phytoplankton concentration, while the abundance of T. inermis was negatively related to bathymetry. Multiple linear regression analyses did not add to this information of a positive relationship between abundance and temperature for M. norvegica, while T. inermis was shown to be negatively related to both temperature and bathymetry. During the latter half of May, the main spawning of both species was confined to the regions off the southwest coast. Sex ratio (males/females) of M. norvegica was higher in the southwest than in the north and east, whereas T. inermis showed a similar sex ratio all around the island.
