Abstract
Since the late 1970s the Chinese government has taken major steps to open up domestic markets and promote the development of commerce. The author highlights the reforms in commerce for agricultural products. He shows that commerce has grown substantically and has penetrated deeply in rural areas. In this context the author also re-evaluates the terms "state", "plan", and "market". (DÜI-Sen)
