Elecciones y violencia política bipartidista en 1931

Abstract

This article examines the situation experienced by Colombia during the electoral competitions of the months of February and May of 1931. Elections and bipartisan political violence made up the dynamic of the country during the first half of 1931.Within this essay, the electoral legislation created to confront the voting process of that year is examined; the results of the elections of February and fo may are studied together with the situation of violence experienced is distinct regions of the country. The article contains a section whereby the reader can study editorials presented of liberal and conservative spokerpersons, together with some documents from the General Archive of Colombia. ; Este artículo examina la situación experimentada en Colombia durante los meses electorales de febrero a mayo de 1931. Elecciones y política bipartidista marcaron la dinámica del país en la primera mitad de 1931.En este ensayo, es examinado el proceso de confrontación creado en la legislación electoral de este año; el resultado de las elecciones entre febrero y mayo son estudiadas junto con las situaciones de violencia experimentadas en distintas regiones del país. El artículo contiene una sección en la cual el lector puede estudiar las editoriales presentadas por los voceros liberales y conservadores, al igual que otros documentos del Archivo General de Colombia.
